I am currently a Ph.D. Candidate in modern East Asian history at Brown University. My research interests include food studies, gender studies, and science and technology studies. My current research project brings these interests together to explore how food, especially Western-style confectionery such as chocolate, caramel, and gum was produced and consumed in the Japanese Empire.

Besides my scholarly works, I also write fiction and essays in my free time.
