Lillian Tsay (蔡曉林) is a Ph.D. candidate of History with a graduate certificate in Science and Technology Studies (STS) at Brown University. She is currently working on her dissertation tentatively titled “The Sweetened Empire: The Making of Western-style Confectionery in Modern Japan(1868-1952).”

Prior to coming to Brown, she worked as an online marketing specialist at Japan’s largest tourist agency JTB in Tokyo. She received her M.A. in Interdisciplinary Information Studies at The University of Tokyo (2016) and her B.A. in Foreign Languages and Literature and Sociology at National Taiwan University (2014).
